The Rugged Trail Coffee Co. Mission

 

We believe coffee should taste good. That means sourcing it from quality farms and roasters in order to bring out the delicate flavors of the beans. 

We believe coffee should do good. That means sourcing from small, family-owned, sustainable farms that we are proud to support. To us that also means donating at minimum, 10% of our profits organizations that are working to promote a sustainable future for our planet. 

Who We Are

Hey! My name's Levi, and as of writing this, Rugged Trail Coffee is a one-man show. I have about 6 years as a barista in specialty coffee under my belt, and a couple years as a conservation worker as well, which is my current day job. Two really different fields, right? But not surprisingly, both are being greatly affected by climate change. I started Rugged Trail Coffee as a way to be able to give back to the planet, as well as a way to be able to become financially independent and pay for my education so that I can become a conservation scientist.

For every order, Rugged Trail finances a tree on a restoration site somewhere in the world. On top of that I am committed to donating at least 10% of all my profits to organizations leading the fight against climate change. All in all, I'm trying to give back and do what I can as a small business owner to support and help our planet as much as possible.

Why Choose Rugged Trail?

Often times, in the coffee industry, producers are paid extremely low wages. In addition to this, they are being hugely affected by rapid climate change. Even fair trade standards are not enough for a small family farm to live off of, and organic and fair trade licensing is expensive and often just not possible. This is why we buy our beans from sources that do direct trade.
